Boxes and books - I love to create special little environments for us all to imagine in. Made with card, fabrics, found objects, paint, dyes, lustre finishes and lots of glue.

Nests, pods, strange habitats – A particular obsession of mine at the moment is the creation of strange little environments – inspired by wasps nest, sea-shells  and seed pods. Starting with a wire  and felted wool I create a sculptured frame, add fabric of all types, beads, threads, found objects then stitch and distort until you have created a strange space. I showed this work to two friends – one said ‘ I really like it but it makes me feel a bit uneasy’, the other said ‘ I love it, but it should be huge so that you can sit in it ‘!!!!!

Artworks in a tin – I have always loved the shape of sardine tins and over the last year have started to save them, and now finally I am making work to fit into these lovely little shapes. I love secret little environments and moments for reverie and these fit both of those soooooo well, and of course give you even more reasons to recycle.

 Little Women Art dolls

As a child I really loved my dolls and now I am revisiting that love to create some fabric dolls inspired by the russian stacking dolls shape. I love selecting the material for their bodies, or drawing out designs on calico, for most of the faces I use an image from my computer and print it out directly onto fabric, then add stitching detail to make each face slightly different. For more images go through to my Etsy shop.
